Are the Mayans Right?

The Mayan society was considered to be an advanced society and was blossoming intellectually before Europeans pretty much destroyed it.
The ancient civilization observed the stars and often noticed many alignments of planets. They could predict any planet’s movement… But could they have predicted the End of the World?
Many researchers think about the Mayan Calendar. The Mayan Calendar wasn’t actually theirs, but was created and used by Aztecs before them! Even so, the calendar seems to end on December 22nd of 2012… Should we trust this? Should we consider this a simple 1999-2000 problem, where we simply reset the counter?
